- Thanks for downloading Arctangent's Graphics Pack Volume 12. I hope you
- enjoy using it as much as I enjoyed creating it!
-
- The purpose of these volumes is two fold. The primary purpose of these
- graphics is to give your Amiga a wicked-ass facelift by allowing you
- the ability to redecorate your Workbench, MUI Applications, and
- Public Screens with fab looking, professionally-drawn artwork.
-
- The second purpose of these volumes is to give something BACK to the
- computer, and the user community that has made me so happy since 1987,
- when I bought my first A500. :) Now, more than ever, the Amiga community
- NEEDS people to help keep the dream alive. There a bunch of guys in
- Benzheim, Germany, who are busting their asses night and day to keep
- the dream alive for all of us. The least we can do, is to do everything
- in our power to make their job a little easier, by continuing to support
- Amiga Shareware authors, loyal third-party companies, and commercial
- software vendors. I'm doing my part, by giving folks a reason to continue
- to be PROUD of their machines. What are -you- doing?

- On to the technical notes:
-
- Recently, a problem has been brought to my attention, regarding my
- ArcsPacks..
-
- There is one "bug" in every ArcsPack---the Palletes drawer. You see,
- Digital Creations, the guys who wrote Brilliance 2.0 (the paint program
- I use to create all this shit) didn't exactly follow Commodore's
- guidelines when creating their Pallete file standard. Inside every one
- of those 1000-or-so byte Pallete files, there exists color register
- information, and a little chunk of information that tells programs
- what kind of file it is. This "chunk", is referred to as the "BMHD"
- Chunk. When Brilliance is told to save a Pallete, a file is written
- which ends up being detected as having a "Malformed BMHD Chunk"...
- Several popular, mainstream image processing utilities (Even ADPro)
- have an extremely difficult time trying to use these files, because of
- this irregularity in the form of the Pallete files.
-
- Blame DC, not me. :) In the meantime, I'll attempt to fix this problem
- in subsequent releases of ArcsPack, by loading all my Palletes into
- DPaint V (That is, if DPaint V will even accept it), and save them
- out as DPaint palletes. That way, the palletes will be easilly importable
- into any image processor or other paint program for application to
- pre-existing patterns and startup-pix.
-
- In the meantime, as the situation exists right now, using Brilliance is
- the only way to apply one of these Palletes onto the patterns or startup
- pix. Good luck.
-
- For those wishing to contact me, my name, net address, and FTP server
- (my FTP server is known as E-T-S-A) are shown in the image labelled
- as "All About Arctangent!" in the Arctangent's Graphics Pack 12 main
- drawer.

- See yah around!
